Bayonet

A bayonet bulb is held in a light socket by two small prongs, rather than a screw thread – you fit one by pushing it in and turning it by just a few degrees clockwise. They’re the most common bulb type in the UK, but there are plenty of screw-fitting bulbs around too. You’ll sometimes see bayonet referred to as B22 – the fitting is 22 millimetres wide.
